The FEMA Region V, Regional Youth Preparedness Council is a service and leadership opportunity for high school students living in the states of Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Youth Preparedness Council (YPC) is an exciting opportunity for students who are interested in public service, disaster preparedness and giving back to their community.
YPC students can earn community service hours and gain experience in:
Youth Preparedness Council members support preparedness efforts across the region by working with local officials, governments, and organizations to increase preparedness actions within their own communities. Members serve as the voice for their generation in identifying ways to better prepare their peers for disasters. Each YPC member completes one individual preparedness-related service project with the support of FEMA Region V during their one-year term on the council.
